Do What You Love!
By Campbell Sharpe
We all have moments of doubt. Is this right? Is this good enough? Should I be doing something else? When you feel lost in your own words, when the page count refuses to tick upwards, and the characters do not seem to hear you, persevere. Ignore the nagging in your head and the judgement beyond. There is no formula to make a novel and there is no definition of who is conderdered a writer.
Here at Cozy Cat, our favorite sleuths are ameteurs. They are teachers, nurses, and lawyers that have been thrust to a web of mysteries where the only direction is forward. These detectives are, in all accounts, average; and yet, they star in our books. That is because these sleuths do what they love. They protect their family, defend their friends, and ensure their town is safe. They are not motivated by money or power, but they endure nevertheless. They are doing what they love.
Main characters are dedicated. They perservere despite the danger, despite the many, many obstacles villains set in their paths. Writing is no different. If you enjoy writing and put words on the page, you are a writer. If you write enough words, you’ve made a manuscript. It is not always easy, but perserverance and trust in yourself finishes more books than doubt ever will. Be confident in your own abilities.
We at Cozy Cat do what we love. We hope you do too.
