Spring Is Here!
By Sophie Carbone
With Spring fast approaching I can’t stop thinking about new beginnings and fresh starts! Do you have any Springtime rituals that are a must? Try a new hobby? Join a gym? Maybe even… start a new book series? With the weather warming up, there is no better time than taking a book outside and enjoying the lovely weather.
Here are just a few of what I consider to be some of our most Spring themed series to really help you embrace those new beginnings!
Gumshoe Granny Investigates:
This series starter not only screams Spring to me but is also all about new beginnings! In this cozy mystery we follow Bess Bullock, who has just moved into her new retirement home, ready to put her police force days behind her and focus on more leisurely activities. However, no matter what she does at her new home, she can’t seem to shake the feeling there are mysteries all around her just waiting to be solved!
Murder on Madeline Island:
No better time than Spring for a romantic getaway… unless there’s murder! After Emily finds a dead lawyer while on her supposed romantic getaway on Madeline Island, she is accused of murder. The deeper Emily looks into the town’s past the more her current boyfriend Chet seems to be hiding something… With the unexpected help of a new and attractive man, can Emily find the real killer, and maybe new love, before it's too late?
Hidden Magick:
There is just something about Spring that makes me feel like anything is possible. Even magic! When Juniper Penn falls in love with a human woman, he must fight to protect her from evil magical forces, while at the same time trying to hide his own magical powers from her. Would she truly love him if she knew what he could do? As they hide amidst a town of magical creatures a young girl enters the picture, forcing Juniper to make a decision on how long he can keep his secrets from the ones he loves.
Bingoed:
This book not only adds a pop of color to your Spring reading, but a bit of humor as well! In Bingoed, we follow four best friends at a retirement home. When a supposedly spry older gentleman is found dead, Essie Cobb and her friends are on the case! Bingoed proves that age is never going to stop a determined set of detectives.
Flower Power Fatality:
Nothing says Spring quite like flowers! Dig into this retro read: Flower Power Fatality. Set against the backdrop of the Cold War, a young woman, Noelle, is unexpectedly thrust into the world of secret spy agencies when a mysterious man with a gunshot wound falls down dead at her doorstep. Noelle must team up with secret agent Destiny King of SIAMESE (Special Intelligence Apparatus for Midwest Enemy Surveillance and Espionage) in order to save the day!
